Fire disaster recently in Kakuwalie in the Kapanda Kabondeh Chiefdom, Pujehun District destroyed 38 houses. Kakuwalie is four miles off Gbondapi a trading community. The victims of the inferno are asking government and humanitarian organizations to render emergency humanitarian assistance as the incident left them without food, shelter and medicine.
ÂDetails of what ignited the blaze are still sketchy but the aftermath of the disaster has pushed mostly the aged, women and children to neighboring villages and some seeking shelter in the forest.
ÂThe people are living in an unhygienic setting and the threat of cholera is surfacing though no record exists to show the gravity currently.
The people are desperately looking ahead of support from the government to stand by them at this their moment of pain.
ÂSpeaking to Massa Massaquoi on a mobile phone, she said that her people are in need of clothes, food and expect that international and state institutions would come to their aid especially in the area of shelter.
ÂThis is unrelated to the local council bye election recently concluded in Sorogbema, Pujehun.
