The rampant cases of rape in the country appears to be on the increase. Bo district residents are in a state of shock and disappointment after the unfortunate death of a thirteen year old girl resulting from raped, by one Sheku Sandy who is now helping the Bo Police with investigations into the matter.
The circumstances leading to the death of the thirteen year old at Sengema Village Bumpe Ngao Chiefdom in the Bo District, according to the Bo Police Crime Officer Ibrahim Halladu re still sketchy. The deceased is quoted to have told her mother Mamie Ndanema that she was raped by Sheku Sandy a circumstance that allegedly led to her death. The deceased and the accused were all residents of the same house at the time of the crime. Our correspondent managed to talk to the suspect Sheku Sandy behind bars who vehemently denied the allegation, claiming that the deceased was sick and that he has been wrongly accused. However, there has been no independent confirmation as to how the crime was committed except that the accused had been previously accused of rape.
This recent death of the thirteen year old girl has since come under the spot light by various human rights groups calling for justice to take its course since rape related cases are on the increase in the District.
Meanwhile, the Family Support Unit Commander Sento Bangura and some other police personnel in Bo seem very angry and have since called for an all out investigation into the case. The remains of the deceased are at the Bo Government Hospital awaiting postmortem.
