In the mist of rumours about the where about of Sylvia Olayinka Blyden, and a police warrant of arrest for her, she today spoke on UN Radio’s breakfast show “Teabreak” and indicted UN Radio for popularising the Police warrant on her and demanded that the radio apologise to her.
Sylvia Blyden claimed that she would have surrendered to the Police but up till now her defence lawyers led by Anthony Brewah of Brewah and Co Chambers are yet to receive clearance from the Police.
“Under such circumstances, I cannot surrender or come out to the Police. I will do so at the right time” she told Val Cassel of the UN Radio on the popular programme “Teabreak”.
In an article on Monday May 18th, 2009 captioned “Kailahun Article in Public Interest” in a local tabloid; the New Vision Newspaper, the writer Edward Kargbo claiming to be an assistant to Sylvia Blyden said “Blyden’s lawyers from Brewah and Co Chambers had respectfully contacted all the Police Investigators to inform them that Blyden was out of the jurisdiction but would be back in Freetown on Tuesday May 19th 2009 to face police questioning over the article about Kalaihun happenings.”
The location from where she was linked by cellular phone to UN Radio was not disclosed but if publications in some newspapers about the issue should be swallowed wholly, Sylvia Should have made or be making a statement at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarters in Freetown together with her battery of lawyers.
Ms Blyden is wanted by the Police to respond to questions with regard to a front page publication in the Awareness Times Newspaper on May 13th 2009 captioned “ After False Portrayal as First Lady President Sweetheart in Kailahun Mess”.
Sources at CID Headquarters said neither Sylvia nor any of her lawyers have gone to the CID yet. Sylvia has denied any wrong doing and insists that the story is in public interest.
