Two days to the national Delegates Conference of the APC party, Makeni is bubbling with activities as hundreds of partisans and other APC sympathizers are pouring into Makeni form every corner of Sierra Leone .
The national Delegates Conference is expected to net 750 delegates who will decide on who to elect for various positions in the APC executive.
Many interested features have come up in which the Chairman of the sierra Leone Peoples Party is expected to address the delegates shortly after the opening ceremony on Thursday morning at the Wusum Grounds, Makeni.
This is the first time that an executive of the SLPP is participating fully in an APC national Delegates Conference which indicates that President Ernest Bai Koroma and his government have taken political tolerance to a higher level.
A few days ago, the same Chairman of the SLPP was crowned Honorary Regional Charmin of the APC for Bombali district when he led a high powered delegation to the APC party headquarters at Old Railway Line, Brookfields, Freetown.
In Makeni itself, every hotel is fully booked as delegates from all over Sierra Leone continue to arrive in the Northern city.
The national Delegates Conference will dwell on key activities such as educating the membership on the political direction of the party form which will emanate various forms of resolutions that will be adopted to give new meaning to the APC motto of Action, Progress and Commitment.
Long before the start of the conference, the jockeying for political positions had already reportedly stopped because everybody else knows who is who ensuring that August gathering of a smooth and peaceful political transition from one executive to another.
The Minister of Information and Communication a veteran journalist, Hon. Ibrahim Ben Kargbo is chairman of the convention. The announcement that Hon.Ibrahim Ben Kargbo is chairman of the convention has been well received in Makeni by the many fans of the APC who have no doubt about the leadership quality of Mr. I.B. Kargbo.
Even as we await the fruitful conclusion of the APC National Delegates Conference, we must warn that there are many hurdles ahead and that the party must quickly turn its attention to the development aspect of Sierra Leone which President Ernest Bai Koroma promised by offering to being positive change in Sierra Leone within his first term in office
Many changes are already taking place even as we learn that the Bumbuna Hydro Electric Project is 99.9% complete and only awaiting the rains to start to give it the necessary vigour it needs to kick start the most viable electricity project ever in Sierra Leone .
We wish the delegates happy deliberations and successful outcomes
